TransUnion Veterans Alliance

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR TEAM RUBICON

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, TransUnion’s Veterans Alliance community organization (TUVA) wanted to find a way to fundraise for a non-profit organization that supported veterans but was also responding to the pandemic. Fellow TUVA member Marisa Tomski and I developed a fundraising campaign where we could sell products through the online platform Bonfire and donate 100% of the profits to the nonprofit of our choice. For our first annual fundraising campaign, we chose Team Rubicon as our nonprofit based on the incredible work they do and their rapid response to the pandemic.

I created several apparel design options based on veteran pride, supporting veterans and in support of the TUVA organization, and presented the campaign to TU’s GoodWorks leadership team in Chicago.

Unfortunately, compliance with TransUnion internal guidelines on fundraising and TU community organization communications limited the products to only TUVA branded items and drastically limited the reach of the campaign to TUVA members and one communication with all TransUnion associates in connection with our flagship event on Veterans Day. Knowing we had one chance to make an impact with our fellow TU associates, I created a video to highlight the campaign and the incredible work of Team Rubicon. Despite those limitations, our campaign was able to sell over 70 products and raised over $700 for Team Rubicon, much of it happening in a few short weeks following Veterans Day.
