CHARITY SKATEBOARD ART AUCTION

The AIGA Colorado used to host an annual charity art auction where they would invite artists to create one-of-a-kind skateboards that were sold at a large event to raise money for the AIGA Colorado Mentorship Program and Access Gallery’s youth program. I created skateboards for the auction three years in a row.

ROYAL FLUSH – DEATH VS UNDEAD

Every year I participated in Bordo Bello, I pushed to outdo myself, and in 2012 I accomplished that in spades thanks to the amazing people I was fortunate enough to work with. Four super-talented creatives from Integer and I all collaborated to create a royal flush. Outside of a limited color palette, everyone was free to interpret their card, or rather skateboard as they pleased. The results still bring a smile to my face.

THE SAVAGE SAMURAI

After working on my board for weeks, I was very disappointed in the results. The day before the final deadline I had a spark. After work, I sanded it clean, worked all night and turned in a board I was proud of. Unfortunately, this is the only photo I have and there are no photos of the process. Rest in peace Macho.

The first year I created a skateboard for Bordo Bello in 2010, I actually carved the drawing into the skateboard with a Dremel tool, then stained and painted it to look like a weathered sign.
